Cernak
For Cernak, art and life are inseparable.
A mature artist in mid career, with a large and dedicated following, Cernak's unorthodox lifestyle, subject matter and technique have seen her create an eccentric orbit in the artworld.
She has held over 40 solo exhibitions in Australia, Vienna and Venice.
Her new exhibition entitled "Homeland" will be shown in June 2008.
Cernak's 2006 exhibitions at Pine Rivers Regional Gallery and at Robyn Bauer Studio Gallery explored ancient mythological concepts of search and rebirth and were woven into a unique perception of the land, sky and water.
Myths and dreams of our origins, and the curiosity this arouses, underpin Cernak's need to link abstarction with meaning. Her paintings are built up with layers to enable her to see where she has come from and where she is going.
