Di West
Multi-award winning and highly collectable Queensland artist, Di West is well known for her endearing human and animal characters and witty observations in paint and also in bronze. Di has a Masters Degree in Fine Arts from Queensland University of Technology.
Di is a finalist in the 2011 Blake Prize.
After living all her life in the heart of the city, Di has relocated to the lush countryside near Maleny in the hinterland of Queensland's Sunshine Coast. This was a "tree change" that had a profound effect on the artist, her subject matter and her sensibility.
Di has a quirky sense of humour and turn of phrase and embues her paintings with a sense of optimism and well being. Her paintings and sculptures also contain nostalgic references about her own life in Maleny and her keen observation of the people and animals around her clearly shows through.
