Elizabeth Burton
Elizabeth Burton will be taking part in the group show "Go Figure..." in the gallery in July 2012. She is a Brisbane based artist and printmaker. She has exhibited and taught artists’ workshops in Brisbane and throughout Australia.
Elizabeth’s journey has evolved through rich experimentation in botanical illustration, watercolours, pastels, oils, mixed media and printmaking. Underpinning her multi-disciplinary, sometimes multi-media, approach is her mastery of drawing and understanding of the power of the simplicity of line. This is reflected in the beauty of Elizabeth’s flowers and mixed media landscapes. Elizabeth works with acrylic paints and collage materials to weave and fuse different surfaces and textures in the artwork. She takes her inspiration from the natural world, Australian landscape from realism to abstraction. She also enjoys the painterly effects of using pure colour in her distinctive still life and “part of life” works which draw on the very essence of the subject without being tied down by traditional approaches.
Her works are held in private and corporate collections throughout Australia, Elizabeth has work in the following permanent public collections and musems: Exhibition of the Americas Biennale (University of Iowa USA), the Naestved International Exhibition of Contemporary Prints in Denmark, Estampe Belgium and the Art Museum at Nyíracsad Hungary . She has also been invited to exhibit her work in London, Hong Kong and Cyprus as well as a solo exhibition in Denmark.
