Terry Bouton
Terry Bouton is a multi-talented and eclectic Brisbane based artist who works in both two and three dimensions.Underpinning her two dimensional work is a strong emphasis upon drawing and realism, though many of her works incorporate text, collage and gleaned objects. Increasingly she has been focusing on thought provoking themes that deliberately encourage the viewer to reflect on the human condition and mankind's existance in the contemporary landscape.
Her sculptural work explores universal concepts and contemporary issues. Disgarded and gleaned objects are combined with subtly coloured and textured ceramic shapes to suggest aged and preloved objects from another time. Her work engages the viewer by entering their space and encouraging contemplation in a playful and tactile way.
She is currently working towards a major solo show in the gallery in April 2010, entitled "Carnival". Alongside her incredible machines she will also be exhibiting figurative work in sculpture, painting and drawing.
Terry was the winner of the Stanthorpe 3D Award in 2008, a finalist in the Alice Prize in 2008, and a drawing finalist in the Waterhouse and Hutchins award in 2007.
